On 11 November 2025, the kick-off event for the new BiblioVision series took place in Vienna – a collaboration between the OBVSG and the Austrian National Library, which highlighted current developments in the field of artificial intelligence in library cataloguing.
The aim of the new series of events is to promote professional exchange, provide new impetus and create space for discussion and networking.
The event was opened by Günther Simonitsch (OBVSG management).
Kerstin Stieg (OBVSG management) guided the participants through the day.
The event kicked off with an inspiring keynote speech by Carlo Blum (presentation, lecture*), which highlighted key issues and potential opportunities for the use of AI in libraries.

They provided exciting insights into ongoing projects and research priorities relating to the use of AI and metadata management.
The morning session was followed by a lunch break with sustainable catering from Iss Mich!, which also served as an opportunity for personal exchange.
In the afternoon, the lecture hall was transformed into a World Café.
Four themed tables provided an opportunity to discuss future skills, responsibilities and the ethical use of AI in indexing. The atmosphere was open, creative and characterised by intensive exchange. At the end, the table hosts summarised the central ideas and results in short presentations.
